Fujifilm Recipes

Which Fujifilm cameras these recipes work on

Every recipe in the bank was built and validated on the X-T5. Whether one transfers to another body depends on two things only: the sensor generation, and whether that body has the film simulations the recipe uses.

Transfers unchanged

These share the X-T5's sensor exactly. Same colour filter array, same processing pipeline, same simulation set. A recipe written for one is the same recipe on the others, with no adjustment.

Needs one conversion

X-Trans IV bodies render the Color Chrome controls a notch differently and are missing the newest simulations. The conversion is a single documented step, and it is in every recipe that needs it.

The next generation, including the X-T6

Fujifilm has not announced the X-T6 or the rest of the next generation, and no specification for it is public. Anything you read about its sensor today is a rumour, so this page will not print one as fact.

What can be said now is what will decide the answer, because it is the same rule that decided it for every body above:

  • If the sensor generation carries over, as X-Trans 5 HR did across four bodies, the recipes transfer with no change at all.
  • If the colour filter array or the processing pipeline changes, the film simulations are re-tuned with it, and each recipe needs re-validating against the new rendering.
  • If new simulations arrive, they are new starting points, not replacements. Existing recipes keep working on their own bases.

When the next bodies are announced, the compatibility line for each of the 45 recipes here gets tested and published on this page rather than assumed. The bank is derived from film datasheets rather than copied from other people's settings, which is what makes re-deriving for a new sensor possible at all.
